This statue of Juan Ponce de Leon founder of Florida points toward Spain, in the old city of St. Augustine, Florida. The inscription on the statue reads "The Discoverer of Florida, Juan Ponce de Leon landed near this spot in 1513."  St. Augustine is the oldest continually occupied city of European origin in the United States of America.
